I have managed a private medical practice of about fifty people since 2020. This site is where I write down how the work actually fits together.
The job covers the parts of a practice that patients never see and physicians mostly should not have to think about: whether claims go out clean, whether the schedule matches the demand, whether the people who make the day work are still here in six months, and whether the practice is meeting its obligations without a compliance department to hand it to.
Before this I worked in healthcare education, building and running a clinical training program. That is a different subject and it has its own site at marinadavar.net. It is relevant here mainly because it means I have hired the kind of staff I used to train, and I know what the gap between those two things looks like from both sides.
Why this site exists
Nearly everything published about practice management is produced by companies selling something to practices. That material is often accurate and it is always shaped by what it is selling. There is much less written by people doing the work who are not trying to sell you a platform.
So this is an attempt at the other thing: plain explanations of how the operational side of an independent practice fits together, with no product at the end of it.
What this site is not
It is not advice about your practice. I do not know your payers, your state, your specialty, your staffing model or your contracts, and all of those change what is true. Everything here is general information, and the disclaimer at the bottom of every page is not boilerplate I resent writing.
It is also not comprehensive. It covers what I have direct experience of. Where I do not, I would rather leave a gap than fill it with something I read somewhere.
The practice
I do not name the practice, its specialty, or anyone who works there. Operational detail is what makes writing like this useful, and identifying a real workplace is not the way to get it. Where an example would need specifics I cannot give, I describe the shape of the situation instead.
